› QUEEN'S DIAMOND JUBILEE IDEAS

Queen's Diamond Jubilee The Queen's Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated over an extended weekend from Saturday 2nd June to Tuesday 5th June 2012.

The Town Council has set up a small working party to put together a day of celebrations in the town on Monday 4th June. Suggestions put forward so far include:

A children's street party, treasure hunt, face painting, town trail, large screen showing rolling footage of the Coronation and the Queen’s 60 year reign, display of 1950’s memorabilia, afternoon tea dance, hog roast, barbecue, evening concert and fireworks.

Also...competitions for best front garden and best dressed shop window, mosaic created by children, a tapestry or quilt created by craft groups, and a time capsule.

We also plan to light a Jubilee Beacon somewhere in the town.

These are just ideas at this time...what do you think?

  • Can you help to organise an event?
  • Can you join us on the working party?
  • Do you have any other suggestions for celebratory events?

All sectors of our community are invited to take part in the celebrations with contributions from our schools, clubs, youth clubs, volunteer groups, services, and shops etc., all taking part in a host of events that will essentially be a Royal Fun Day out in Great Dunmow. We are keen to hear from all of you.

The Town Council can plan these events but ultimately it is the PEOPLE OF GREAT DUNMOW who will make the event a success.
